A patient-centered focus at a private ambulance service? It is true! When starting Thorne Ambulance Service, our Director, Ryan Thorne, wanted to turn the private ambulance industry upside down. Since 2010, that is exactly what Thorne Ambulance Service has done!
As an Advanced Life Support (ALS) provider from day one, Thorne Ambulance Service (TAS) has positively impacted the lives of thousands of patients across the Upstate and Midlands. We are not a "transportation" service, but rather an out-of-hospital care organization.
Presently, we provide out-of-hospital care to a variety of healthcare communities and residences in the Upstate and Midlands of South Carolina, including the Bon Secours Health System of Greenville, SC. In addition, we work very closely with other EMS providers in the communities that we serve, regularly assisting with 911 responses.
Thorne Ambulance Service is comprised of a group of highly dedicated individuals who strive to improve not only as providers, but the organization as a whole. Our open door policy allows our staff an opportunity to take part in the decision-making process, and therefore; determine the overall direction of the organization.

The communications team of Thorne Ambulance Service is comprised of highly trained and experienced Communications Specialists. The Communications Department operates on a 24/7/365 basis, and is overseen by a Communications Supervisor.
All dispatching operations occur from our Greenville location.
The Operations Division of Thorne Ambulance is presently divided between two (2) locations: Greenville & Laurens. Our Greenville Operations Manager oversees all field crews operating from Greenville, Spartanburg, Pickens, Anderson, and Oconee counties. Our Laurens Field Supervisor oversees all crews operating in Laurens, Newberry, Union, and Greenwood counties.
We provide 24/7 Advanced Life Support (ALS) service from our Greenville location, and often provide backup 911 service to Greenville County EMS. Our ALS providers are required to undergo additional in-house training to become proficient with high-acuity interfacility transfers. These transfers include: ventilator-dependent patients, multi-channel infusion pumps, the monitoring of blood products, and other critical patient types. While we excel as an emergency services provider, our team is also capable of providing these higher levels of interfacility transfer services.
Our leadership team is built by those who grow from within the organization. We strongly believe in promoting from within, and every full time team member has the ability to grow into his or her desired position, as long as they are willing to put forth the work and effort required to promote within our high-functioning system.
